The Beginning

Most of us experience life believing everything we know, is all that’s worth knowing.

It’s not a bad way to exist. You get the last word in arguments, become really good at finding answers to overcome uncertainties, and generally always feel in control. It’s a safe, calculated, and finite world where you always know how the story ends.

Sometimes I still live that way, and there’s nothing wrong with it, but not being wrong it doesn’t make it right either.

When I can let go of needing to know how the story ends, every moment becomes its own beginning. Arguments become opportunities to learn trough conversation, uncertainty becomes a space for hope, and the need to control a situation becomes an opportunity to exercise self-control, and an invitation to honour of the person you truly want to be in this world.

This alternative isn’t the right way to live, but I’ve learned it serves me a lot better than the first option.

When we start to experience life as if there is so little little we actually understand, everything becomes pure possibility.

… I want more than just to exist, I want to live

Playing a part in a story with a clear beginning middle and end, is a great way to exist. But I want more than just to exist, I want to live. So here’s to surrendering to the present, a boundless sense of hope, learning about all the things we didn’t know we didn’t know, and honouring the people we want to be in this world.

New beginnings each and every day. A life worth living begins here.
